You already have your TPOP store (mystore.tpopsite.com for example) and you want to take it to the next level? A custom domain name allows you to increase your notoriety and reputation at a low cost.
In order to transform mystore.tpopsite.com into mystore.com, you will need to perform what is called a DNS modification. It is a technical operation that may seem complex, but it is not.
What are DNS?
DNS are like an address book for the internet. When you enter a web address, DNS translates this address into an IP address, much like a phone directory translates names into phone numbers.
The entire Internet relies on IP addresses, so this allows you to "link" (we say "point") your tpopsite store to your own domain name.
1. Enter the domain name you want to use
Enter your own domain name, the one you ordered from an external operator. You should only enter the domain name, not https:// or www
2. DNS modification
You will need to add/modify 2 DNS zones with your provider (where you purchased your domain name).
Their technical names:
A CNAME zone
An A zone
Depending on the providers, the procedure is different: here are the procedures explained for the main providers:
3. Confirmation of the change
Once your DNS records are confirmed, you need to validate the domain name change. This allows us to completely reconfigure your store, with a lot of care and love.
4. SSL Generation
This step is automatic and can take about ten minutes: it allows the generation of your SSL certificate. The SSL certificate, to put it simply, is the padlock visible in the address bar, which secures your store and all transactions.
